The short answer
What the bold style is actually for
That temporary quality is a feature if you treat it as one. The pages that do this badly are the ones that picked bold as a permanent look and now shout at everybody who arrives, about everything, forever.
It suits events, launches, promoters and anybody with one thing to sell right now. If that is not you, the recipe still works; it just means you are picking a look rather than matching one.

#1C1917#FAFAF9#D6D3D1#F97316#1C1917What makes a bold page work
- One loud element, and only one. The whole style depends on hierarchy. If every button is orange, nothing is emphasised and you have made a page that is merely loud. The accent goes on the thing you actually want tapped; everything else is quiet.
- A display face, used once. Bricolage is high contrast and full of personality at large sizes, and tiring in a paragraph. Heading yes, body text no.
- Check the text on the accent, not just against the background. Orange with white text on it fails the contrast floor at most weights. Dark text on orange passes comfortably, which is why the recipe above puts near-black on the accent rather than white.
- Put an expiry on it. If bold is for a launch, decide now when it stops. A page still shouting about a sale that ended in March is the most common way this style goes wrong.
And then the part styling cannot fix
Every style on this site is a decision about how the page looks. The order of what is on it is a separate decision, it matters more, and it is the one nobody revisits. A beautifully styled page with the wrong thing at the top is still a page with the wrong thing at the top.
The way this one goes wrong
White text on a bright accent colour. It is what everybody reaches for and it is the single most common contrast failure in this category, because the accent colours people like are exactly the ones that are too light for white text.
What this page says, in six lines
- One loud element, and only one.
- A display face, used once.
- Every colour above clears 4.5:1, so nothing gets corrected after you save.
- Styling is the smaller half. What is at the top of the page matters more.
The other recipes are on the library index, and if you would rather describe a look than enter values, the adaptive page covers what the product does once the styling is settled.
