Head to head

Beacons vs link2l.ink

Beacons sells you a store, an email tool, a media kit, courses, and invoicing, and takes 9% until you reach the $30 tier. link2l.ink sells you one page that reorders itself, once. These products barely compete. This page is about working out which trade you want.

The short answer

Choose Beacons if you will genuinely use the store, the email list, and the media kit, and you are prepared to reach the $30 tier so the 9% fee goes away. Choose link2l.ink if what you actually wanted was a very good link page that tells you where your clicks come from, for a one-time $49 rather than $120 to $360 a year. Beacons has more product. That is the point and also the problem.

The 9% question, worked through

Beacons fee on the free and $10 tiers
9%Beacons fee on the free and $10 tiers
The tier where the fee reaches 0%
$30/moThe tier where the fee reaches 0%
Monthly sales where paying $30 beats paying 9%
$335Monthly sales where paying $30 beats paying 9%

The arithmetic is straightforward and worth doing before you pick a tier. On the $10 plan you pay $10 plus 9% of sales. On the $30 plan you pay $30 and no fee. The crossover is at about $335 of monthly sales: below it the cheap plan wins, above it you are paying Beacons for the privilege of being on the cheap plan.

  • Sell $200 a month: $10 plan costs $28, $30 plan costs $30. Stay cheap.
  • Sell $1,000 a month: $10 plan costs $100, $30 plan costs $30. Upgrade immediately.
  • Sell $3,000 a month: $10 plan costs $280, $30 plan costs $30. The fee is now a salary.

None of this is a criticism of the model, which is a rational way to price for creators who start at zero. It is a criticism of how the model is presented, because the number on the pricing card is $10 and the number on your statement is not.

Breadth versus focus, and who each one hurts

Beacons is the widest product in the category. Store, email, media kit, invoicing, courses, brand outreach, roughly around 2M+ users. If you are running a creator business out of one tool, that breadth is the entire value proposition and no link-in-bio product competes with it.

The documented cost of that breadth is that people who wanted a link page describe the product as overwhelming. Every feature you do not use is still a menu item, an onboarding step, an upsell, and a settings screen with your name on it. There is a real segment of this market that has outgrown a plain list of buttons but does not sell digital products, and that segment is badly served by everything: Beacons and Stan are irrelevant to them, and the pretty tools do not do anything.

That segment is who we build for. One page, four section layouts, forms, themes, and an engine that keeps the order honest. Nothing else. If your reaction to that list is that something is missing, Beacons is probably right for you and this is a short comparison.

Two different things are being called AI

Both products market AI and they mean opposite things by it.

Generative AI: Beacons

Beacons uses AI at the moment of creation. It drafts a page from your social profile, writes copy, and helps with brand outreach. That is genuinely useful, and it is a one-time act. Once the page exists, the AI's job is finished, and the page becomes as static as any other page in this category.

Behavioural AI: link2l.ink

Our engine does nothing at creation time. It starts working after your page has traffic, scoring each link on recency-weighted click-through and moving the running order to match what people click. It also runs rule-based checks over the same event stream: dead links, decaying links, rising links, best source, best time. Each one names a specific link and prescribes exactly one action.

Neither approach is better in the abstract. Generative AI helps most on day one. Behavioural scoring helps most on day ninety, when your page is stale and you have stopped looking at it. If you publish constantly and edit your bio page twice a year, the second kind is worth more. Our guide to link rot is the clearest example of what that catches.

The billing complaints, stated fairly

Beacons sits at 3.3/5 on Trustpilot, and the largest cluster of negative reviews is billing: charges after cancellation and unexplained account suspensions. Published support turnaround of four to seven business days makes those issues slower to resolve than people expect when money is involved.

The structural point is that a one-time purchase removes this failure mode by construction rather than by good behaviour. There is no renewal to be surprised by, no cancellation flow to survive, and no incentive on our side to make leaving quiet. That is the strongest version of the pay-once argument, and it has nothing to do with the price.

Where Beacons is straightforwardly better

  1. Selling anything from the page. Products, courses, consultations, invoices. Beacons has all of it. We have none of it.
  2. Email. Beacons captures and sends. We capture and hand you the data.
  3. Media kits. If you pitch brands, Beacons generates the artefact they ask for. We do not.
  4. Being able to buy it right now. Beacons has working checkout on every tier. Our paid plans are published pricing, not a live purchase.
  5. Maturity. Millions of users have found the sharp edges already. We are early enough that you might find one.

The verdict

Beacons and link2l.ink are not really competitors. Beacons competes with Stan Store and with the stack of tools a creator business runs on. We compete with the link page inside Beacons, which is the least differentiated part of it.

Ask one question: is your bio link a shop or a signpost? If it is a shop, pay for a shop, get to the $30 tier as fast as your sales justify, and stop reading comparison pages. If it is a signpost, you are paying a subscription and 9% for a signpost, and the honest answer is that a signpost should cost less and think more.

Next: the full alternatives comparison covers all thirteen tools, the Bio.link comparison covers the genuinely free end of the market, and the click-through rate guide covers what to do once you can see the data.

Questions people actually ask

How much does Beacons cost?

Beacons is free, $10 a month for Creator Pro, $30 for Store Pro, and $90 for Business, on monthly billing. Annual billing works out at roughly $8.33, $25, and $75. The free tier and the $10 tier both carry a 9% fee on sales, which disappears from the $30 tier up.

Does Beacons take a cut of my sales?

Yes, 9% on the free plan and on the $10 Creator Pro plan. It drops to 0% on the $30 Store Pro plan. If you sell more than about $335 a month, the $30 plan is cheaper than staying on the $10 plan and paying the fee.

Is Beacons good for someone who just wants a link page?

It works, but it is more product than the job needs. Beacons is built as a creator operating system with a store, email, courses, invoicing, and a media kit. If all you want is a link page, the extra surface is something you navigate around rather than something you use.

What is the main complaint about Beacons?

Billing. Beacons sits at 3.3 out of 5 on Trustpilot, and the most common category of complaint is charges after cancellation and unexplained suspensions. Support response times of four to seven business days make those problems slower to resolve than people expect.

What does link2l.ink do that Beacons does not?

Reorder your page from real click behaviour. Beacons AI generates pages and marketing copy. It does not score your links on recency-weighted click-through and change the running order. link2l.ink also sells for a one-time price rather than a subscription, and puts referrer and device analytics in the free tier.

One page, done properly

No store to configure, no email sequences to write, no 9% on the way out. Free tier, referrer and device analytics from your first visitor.
